The Trade, Commerce and Licensing Unit of the Rodrigues Regional Assembly promotes and facilitates trade and commerce in Rodrigues, and ensures compliance with the RRA (Licenses) Regulation No. 3 of 2003.

- To enforce legal metrology legislation and investigate complaints from consumers and traders.
Licensing Unit
Delivering trade licences through the Licensing Committee.
The Unit receives and processes applications for trade licences and presents them for approval by the Licensing Committee.
Processing
Receiving, validating and assessing applications through the four official stages.
Coordination
Working with health, fire, planning and other authorities for clearances.
Facilitation
Guiding entrepreneurs so that starting a business in Rodrigues is simple.
Legal Metrology Unit
Every gram, every litre, accounted for.
The Legal Metrology Unit enforces the Legal Metrology Act so that weighing and measuring instruments used in trade, and the pre-packing of commodities, meet legal requirements.
- Verification and stamping of scales, fuel pumps and measures
- Checks on pre-packed goods and labelled quantities
- Investigation of complaints from consumers and traders
